Love Story card collection Project Life by Stampin’ Up!

I love Project Life by Stampin’ Up! On the corporate blog today, our co-demonstrator Sarah shared her ideas for cards with this item. I couldn’t have said it any better myself so … here’s her guest blog submission. You can also use these cards for scrapbook layouts!

Do you struggle with how to use the Project Life cards? Do you have a collection of cards that you haven’t even opened yet? Hopefully I can inspire you to open up your package and put it to good use! I love how versatile the Love Story Project Life Card Collection by Stampin’ Up! (item # 135308) is! These cards are in shades of white, gray and black.

For my projects today, I chose to use the white and gray cards for a softer look. This collection of cards allows you to bring whatever color palette you want to your projects. I decided to create a collection of cards that could either be used in a Project Life Photo Pocket Page (item # 135294)—or on cards or tags. Project Life cards aren’t just for memory keeping!

How did I get started with my collection? First, I chose a color palette to add to these cards: Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party, Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz. These colors just make me smile.

After I decided on my color palette, I pulled out coordinating Color Collections Designer Series Paper Stacks. I used a combination of Subtles (item # 130135), Brights (item # 130134), and 2013–2015 In Colors (item # 130136). These Designer Series Paper Stacks are a go-to product for me. I absolutely LOVE them! I use them all the time on my projects! Then I grabbed a few of my favorite stamps, accessories and my Aqua Painter (item # 103954) to get started.
Let’s take a closer look at the details on my Love Story Project Life Cards . . .

After creating this collection of cards, I definitely had a few favorites. I bet you have a few favorites, too!  These are mine.

Now that I have this collection of cards, I’m ready to create whenever I feel inspired—whether it’s a Project Life page, a card, or a pretty tag for a gift. I hope you feel inspired today to put your hands to paper and create!

Beware of dragons.

As you know, Brett and I have been having a fun time in Florida visiting the Universal Studios theme parks. One section of the parks I was excited about is the Harry Potter experience. I, like many, enjoyed the series of books telling the stories of Harry, Ron and Hermione.
If you haven’t read the books or watched the movies (uh, you are so missing out), then to catch you up to speed, the trio of wizards and witch take on magical life challenges as they grow into powerful sorcerers by the end of the series.
Taking on a couple of dragons head-on is definitely a dilemma they have to experience. Let me introduce to you the dragon. This is ONE of many the three have to battle.

Pretty ugly, isn’t it? Let me also introduce you to another, more scary demon … cancer.
Yep, you see, cancer (more specifically, breast cancer) is like a dragon in many ways. It’s evil, scary, larger than life, and can attack unexpectedly.
Why bring this up in the middle of Harry Potter bliss? Well, breast cancer is usually talked about in a negative way … don’t misunderstand me, it’s for good reason. Despite the heartache and despair, the journey taken to defeat the monster can often result in life-long friendships, education and success.
Take my friend’s experience, for example. Thankfully now in remission, she has developed friendships and support she never knew existed! As a matter of fact, she has been involved in helping others dealing with this illness with her cards and also by attending retreats with the Breast Cancer Recovery group.
Want to help? I am participating in another Cards for a Cause event as a card designer. Did you miss the last Cards for a Cause event? Here’s another chance to make-n-take cards while supporting a worthy cause!
Either register through me or call Shirley and mention that I am your demonstrator. RSVP and PAYMENTS are due on April 10th!
I fortunately haven’t met any dragons. I hope I never will, but I do know friends and family who have, and continue to fight against cancer and all it owns.
That fire-breathing giant lizard above is the tame one. In the final books, Harry and his friends ride this beast to safety, never giving up and fighting to the very end. Be like the “Potter gang” and help rise up against this disease.
I hope to see you there!!

Play ball !!

Baseball season is finally here! I’m an Oriole’s fan (with exception of them not signing Nick Markakis again); my husband and I enjoy visiting the classic Camden Yards in Baltimore, Md. We’ve never been to a spring training game until today.

My husband, Brett is also a baseball fan. He’s been taking photos in front of each ball field/stadium he’s visited for the past couple of years. I plan to make a photo album for him to document these trips.

Of course, there are plenty of albums to choose from, but I think that Project Life by Stampin’ Up! would be the best option. As a matter of fact, I might just use the So You Project Life Kit; all the supplies are included for an easy album.

Isn’t that kit so cool?! I can’t wait to get started. I have so many color options with my inks to match each teams’ colors, too!

Snow to go.

Spring … what comes to mind? Flowers, sunshine, warm days … birds!!

Maryland was experiencing some spring snow earlier this week, so I gladly took advantage of the birds outside the large window of my parents house. The white stuff didn’t stick around too long … that’s the kind of scene I enjoy the best.

If you’ve been following along, you will understand my need for “thank you” cards. If you haven’t, welcome, and click HERE.

Here’s what I used to make this card (minus the oval framelit, but you can use any of these framelits and it will look just as good):

I’m a sucker for spring and all things fresh and bright. I fell in love with the Lotus Blossom stamp set and immediately set it to good use. It’s an added bonus, literally since I got it free as a Sale-a-bration item (ends March 31st). If you like Best. Year. Ever. designer series paper, it’s also from the Sale-a-bration brochure.

I can’t wait to use my bird punch!

Here’s some photos of little man watching the birds on a snowy day to tide you over until then.

Smash cake!

What a wonderful weekend! We had so much fun celebrating Riley’s 1st birthday with family and friends.

It was a whirlwind day, but everyone enjoyed themselves.
It’s funny how much he’s changed. Seeing all of the family once again, to him, is another new, but familiar experience in the same.

Living far away, we opted to celebrate with one larger gathering. Overwhelming to little man, but it seemed like he had fun.

I had a few decorations set up to welcome guests … like this Heartfelt Banner Kit. So easy and festive, I plan to reuse it and build scrapbook pages with the contents. Another bonus? It’s on the Clearance Rack!

Oink! Riley likes pigs (at least he likes his stuffed pig) so we mingled the themes and added some bacon … everyone loves bacon, right!?

The pig balloons were simple … I used Blushing Bride cardstock for the nose and ears and Baked Brown Sugar Baker’s Twine to string them up! These were so easy to make that my siblings got involved.

As you can see, he enjoyed his cake. 🙂 Thank you Aunt Susie (Cakes by Susie) for making his cake.

Here are more photos of Riley’s special day.

You’re number 1.

My little guy turned 1-year-old today. It’s hard to believe that only a year ago that I was in the hospital, awaiting our little munchkin. Although it didn’t quite turn out to be the most ideal birthing experience I’ve ever imagined, it was well worth the 53 hours of labor. 😉 Yes, 3 days and finally a c-section and Riley was born.

I am incredibly lucky to have such a sweet little boy. Brett and I are also thankful for our family and friends who also have helped to raise him.

Saturday, we celebrate with family and friends … tune in tomorrow for my ideas for party decor with Stampin’ Up! supplies!

More, more, more Sale-a-bration!

More Sale-a-bration items have been added to the list and are up for grabs by March 31st! Earn a Sale-a-bration item for FREE for every $50 spent on product (before tax and shipping).

Some of you may be wondering … why are extra items being added to the Sale-a-bration list again? Well, in the past week, news has trickled down from the Stampin’ Up! headquarters … this is a nice bonus in leu’ of the recent updates we have received.

Blendabilities: These markers have been discontinued. According to Stampin’ Up! there were manufacturing quality issues, so being the great company they are, they’ve decided to go with another type of coloring option. Wait for the new catalog to see what’s in store.

My Digital Studio: This program is going to be discontinued at the end of May. I’m deeply saddened by this news as I have used MDS for many of my projects. :/ We are all on pins-and-needles as we wait to hear if another digital option will be offered.

Hispanic catalog: As Stampin’ Up! has flourished on the national scale (Netherlands, France, China) the Spanish market has not. Beginning with the new catalog in June, Spanish products will no longer be offered.

No worries, Stampin’ Up! is honored to offer great quality products that sell well for their demonstrators. I’m now excited to see the new catalog this June!

Luck o’ the Irish!

Don’t let the red hair and pale skin fool ya, I’m not Irish … but it’s sure fun to celebrate St. Patty’s Day. Green rivers, green drinks, green … grass. Yep, spring is finally in the air!

I received a card today. It’s magically unique! Gotta love the googly eyes on this one. 😉

Have an incredibly lucky day! And with that, I will leave you with 8 minutes of “stud muffin” Michael Flatley and his Lord of the Dance entourage.
My mom is in love with him (I’m going to get some flack for that comment). 😉
