Business by design

Spring means fresh ideas, new life,  happier times coming out of a long winter and updates to whatever project is being worked on at the time.

Maybe that’s where the term “spring cleaning” came from? Anyhow, it was time to spread the good fortune of my stamping to the world and so …new business cards!

I have a little secret to share!

I’m very excited to announce starting June 2, my cards will be available for purchase at Moxley’s Wooden Bowls and Handcrafted Items in downtown Mt. Airy, Md.

I’m so excited to be able to join together with this awesome shop to share my creations with the rest of the world.

I will share a little more about this shop in some future posts. Be sure to check back for some really cool activities coming up.

Tomatoes of love …

You may be asking what do tomatoes and love have in common? HAHA, really there’s not much. However, as I was literally making this card (see below), my dad was outside working on his tomato plants. It got me thinking … he really loves his tomatoes.

He was just telling my sister and I about how long it’s been since he ate a big, juicy home-grown tomato right out of the garden. Ah, the small joys in life! 😉

Anyway, back to my story …

My dad enjoys his produce from the garden while my mom really likes to work in her flower beds. She’s really got a talent for making things grow and I’m always amazed at the plants and flowers she gets to bloom all summer long!

So, with the many reasons why they are together, I like to think how farm life has become a similar interest … probably after watching many generations before them stick-it-out through ups and downs of life, they too have succeeded in their marriage, not to mention with the four [“cough,” awesome] children they’ve raised, too.

Today is their anniversary.

Aren’t they just too cute!?

Welp, hopefully my dad’s tomatoes will grow this year. Maybe he should get some help from my mom in the “green thumb” department. Or, maybe that’s one of the tricks to their happy marriage.

I’m sure I will have plenty of tomatoes to share with him this year. 😉

Here’s the supplies I used to make the card:

(Stamp set is from Sale-a-bration’s “Botanicals for You” – currently unavailable.)

All dogs go to heaven!

I believe it! After crossing the rainbow bridge, right into heaven!

After all, why wouldn’t “man’s best friend” be invited? I mean, these animals are always so loyal even under the hardest of circumstances.

Say hello to my pup, Duncan

I’ve had two friends lose their best buds over the timeframe of a year. It’s so sad to see these pups go, but they all lived long and happy lives.

One family lost two pugs to old age. This, I’m sure, was quite difficult. I’m so glad my friend was able to give another puppy (The Bumble) a loving home! You may have noticed my blog post about him. 🙂

The Bumble

The other, and most recent of these losses is Mr. Spencer. Many of you had the pleasure of meeting him at my upline’s card parties and events and/or heard about him when we puppy sat. He got along well with our Duncan.

Spencer the party pup

Spencer was literally a real party animal. He would welcome guests with his loud Beagle howl and demand they say hello before passing into the door.

It will be different when I go to visit next. Although, I’m sure he’s having the best time romping around in heaven.

We who are left behind continue to miss our friends, but feel fulfilled by the time we had together. It makes us better people … and pets.

A milestone of life

We celebrate a special lady’s birthday today! Brett’s grandmother (Riley’s great mom-mom) is turning 90 years old.

Of course, I had to make a card for the occasion. She loves the color pink, so I threw as much of it in there as I could manage.

Viola is still a very spry lady! She keeps everyone on their toes and loves all of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She’s the last living grandparent on both sides (both Brett’s and mine by marriage).

It’s been a pleasure getting to know her over these past few years. I miss my grandparents and think about them almost every day. I’m so glad we can all cherish the moments in life that make us family.

Happy birthday great mom-mom!

If mom’s happy, so are we!

Did you wish your mom a happy Mother’s Day? Fortunately, moms come in all forms … caretakers, friends, family … so, I ask again, did you wish your mom a happy Mother’s Day?

I certainly had a great day (weekend). I was spoiled with “free time” to do what I wanted/needed to do. It was a nice, sunny day and so I was able to focus on my green thumb and weed my garden beds.

I was also able to work on a few cards for the special mom figures in my life, too!

I think gardening runs in the family and so, for my own mother, I created this cute little garden-themed card. I just love these paper colors and stamp set.

I was able to spend Saturday with my mom and mother-in-law at a local greenhouse. This was just the thing to brighten our day as it has been raining non-stop for about two weeks.

Since my family is close by we were able to enjoy the whole weekend with our moms. The card on the left is what I made for my mom-in-law and the one on the right was given to my husband’s grandmother. She really likes the color pink!

I love the definition of mother in this stamp set. Stampin’ Up! always has some really cute greetings in their stamp sets.

The last three cards are made from a retired stamp set, so don’t worry about your sets going out of style! Check out the current retired list before it goes away for good!

My son (and husband) joined in the card making fun as I was presented this card over pancakes this morning at breakfast. I especially loved the tractor. 😉

I also received a few cards from others … hand-made and hand-picked!

Hopefully you had a wonderful Mother’s Day, too (if you are a mom of little kids, big kids and pets) or wished your mom a great day!

Here’s some of the products used to make the cards above!

And they’re off!

The new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogs are on their way to mailboxes very soon! I’ve put in my mailing orders and they begin their journey the week of May 9th. If you are a customer of mine, keep your eyes peeled!

Today is the demonstrator pre-order … yep, pre-or-der … I get to try my hand at some of the products being offered in the new catalog so that I may share them with you!

So I wasn’t able to attend the convention this year. I did have a good time on my vacation to California (did ya see my pictures?). Anyway, my upline was nice to send out some “swag boxes” for us to celebrate the new catalog transition by using up some of the old.

Of course, the “go to” shipment box is a flipped Paper Pumpkin container … we recycle!

Some of these products are on the retired list, so remember to check them out before they disappear for good. Okay, here’s what was in my box from Shirley!

Do you like these mini muslin bags? They are 100 percent cotton and look very nice with any color stamp you choose to use on them. They actually have a little “pull string” to cinch your goodies inside. Yum! Adding a small label and greeting is a plus, too. 8 bags come in a package.

Talking about a great deal … the tiny treat boxes are on the retired list at 50% OFF! 25 boxes in a package.

Item# 135829

NOW $3.50/WAS $7.00

Add some decorations and these cute (my favorite) honeycomb embellishments and they make a darling gift for a friend. Check out this box I made for a friend’s wedding.

They are the perfect size for jewelry, cookies, candy, gift cards, trinkets, and more!

Another box getting ready to retire is the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes. I put fudge in these babies for Christmas last year. Such a big hit with the neighbors.

Item# 130927          $7.00           8 boxes in a package.

A wrap-around paper embellishment like this star (or a Santa belt in my case) brings the right amount of “bling” to the wrapping. Notice the stars on the plastic covering? Just run that plastic sheet through the Big Shot with your favorite embossing folder. Neat huh?

One more treat was found in my “swag box” … little Polka Dot Cone Cellophane Bags. Item# 140578         $6.00         25 bags in a package.

These look really cute with jelly beans or orange candies … they look like carrot sticks. Ha!

There’s so many more sweet deals on the retired list, too. To shop now click on the link below to be directed to my online store. Use the hostess code below if you are ordering less than $150 of product (before tax). Ordering more? Become your own hostess!
